Waaah, My Little Boy is Off to Camp!!!

I cannot believe the time has come for my little boy - my 8 year old, Ben - to go to Sycamore View Youth Camp. SV has held camp in Milan for many years. I haven't been to this one, but have many wonderful memories of all those summers at Mid-South Youth Camp in Henderson. So, I was really excited for Ben to get to experience all that as well. Ben is a very social kid and is always up for trying something new - so, we really didn't worry. He's been asking for the last 24 hours..."How long til we leave for camp?" On the drive there, he helped us look for road signs & following directions and I must say, I think he was more excited about pulling into the camp than when we drove into Six Flags!! All the kids were riding their bikes all around and he couldn't wait to join them. Their cabins are like houses and theirs was actually air conditioned...thanks to their counselors :) Anyway, we signed him in and he was off! Below are some pics - I had to include the blurry one to show you just how he was darting around everywhere, couldn't get a clear picture at all! Then, a picture of him waving goodbye to us - with that big grin on his face. His counselor whose helping with his bike is Russell Wiseman - some of you may know him as the mayor of Arlington, yeah, we know people. Anyway, we'll come back to get him Friday nite and join everyone for a 4th of July Family Celebration with BBQ and Fireworks. I told him I couldn't wait for him to tell me all about it and he said, "Yeah, I'm gonna be talking for days!!" So much like his mother, right?
UPDATE: Ben spent ONE nite at camp and then we got a phone call Monday morning that he had a sore, red throat and needed to be checked for strep. Since I'm staying here in Jackson, I went to get him and, yes, positive for STREP!! We got him on an antibiotic and he was able to return late yesterday afternoon. He was absolutely rarin' to get back. When he hopped out of the car, he saw one of his counselors & some of his friends and said, "Look who's baaaack!" What a kid...

Pergola Project Finally Finished

Cory built a pergola for my Birthday/Mother's Day this year and I love it! It's so nice with all the pool parties we have with friends in the summer. We desperately needed some shade out there and all I did was explain what I wanted and his "engineering mind" kicked into gear!
One of my projects was to add some drapes for additional shading. Cory hung the rods for me so all that was left to do was sew up the drapes - easy, right? With the boys gone camping, tho't I'd try tackling some of these sewing projects that have been lying around. I finished 4 pergola drapes in just 2 hours - Is that a record? I'm just always amazed at how quickly I can work when Ally's napping and the boys aren't here in the background screaming, playing, running around, etc. They're good boys - really - just have to watch 'em!! Anyway, below are pictures of the FINISHED project!! And, no, you may not rent my husband to build one for you - ha!

Cousins' Camp in the RV!!

I just got home from taking the boys - Ben (8) and Jake (4) - to my parents' house so they can take off for "Cousins' Camp." They're going camping with my parents in their RV, along with my brother's 3 girls - Jordan, Brinkley, & Ryleigh - and also my cousin, Kelley. They've done this for 4 years now and my boys look forward to it all year long. Since my brother's family lives in Alabama this is about the only time they get to spend together. They spend all week swimming, riding bikes, playing "chicken foot", watching movies, and wearing Nannie and Papa out!!! I know Mom & Dad will be ready for ANOTHER vacation when this week is over. No joking though - I think they look forward to it as much as the kids do!!

Tshirts I made for the kids to decorate at "Cousins' Camp." Not pictured are Jordan & Kelley - sorry, girls :)

My JOY-filled Life

I'm setting this up on the eve of my Wedding Anniversary. Yes, I can't believe I've already had 12 JOY-filled years with my husband, Cory Williams. We have 3 beautiful, healthy, & happy children - Ben, Jake, & Ally. We are always awed at how happy these 3 little souls have made us. I've enjoyed doing Facebook and MySpace for a few months now, tho't I'd give this a try too. I'll update as often as I can - look forward to sharing our lives with you!
